Our focus: Trophy hunting in Namibia
Khomas Highland Hunting Safaris is a personal family business run by Dietmar Hennings and his son Philip. Both specialise in trophy hunting with international hunting guests in Namibia.
We have been hunting together fort ten years already and are perfectly tuned to each other. Rejecting mass tourism we focus on a personal relationship with our guests. Individuality is our main principal and thus we accommodated only one hunting party at a time.
Thanks to the long standing experience with the traditional walks and stalks Dietmar and Philip know how to manage any situation and to adhere to the desires of the hunting guests.
The name Khomas Highland Hunting Safaris stands for ethic experience hunting in Namibia. As the name "Khomas Highland" implies, we mainly offer hunts in the mountains of Namibia with the focus on the highlands west of Namibia’s capital, Windhoek. Even though our farm has a well developed infrastructure and most distances can be driven, the character of our hunting safaris is that of a free walk and stalk.
We are proud of our hunting offer regarding free ranging game like kudu, oryx, red hartebeest, springbok, zebra and many more. No game fences restrict the game on roaming freely within our concessions thus our hunt will always be an ethic hunt on free-roaming game.
“Hunting in Namibia” – our fully comprehensive package
At Khomas Highland Hunting Safaris great importance is attached to the well being of the hunters and to thorough organisation. From the welcoming at the airport, throughout the complete duration of the hunt and until the end of the stay in Namibia – everything will be taken care of.
Khomas Highland Hunting Safaris also offers short excursions to touristic highlights in Namibia, for hunters who do not wish to spend their complete holiday hunting. Visits to the Etosha National Park, to the Sossusvlei or to the small coastal town of Swakopmund are recommendable.
Our speciality is the complete organisation to guaranty a pleasant hunt. With high spirits and vast knowledge about the animals of the Namibian bush we will accompany you on your hunting safari and we will fulfil your dream of hunting in Africa. Essential is only a basic fitness for a few hours of walking and of course a healthy dose of hunting passion.
At the moment Khomas Highland Hunting Safaris offers hunting on two hunting grounds in Namibia:
- On the own Farm Heusis in the Khomas Highland, as well as on surrounding farms of the the 200000 ha large Khomas Highland Conservancy and
- On Farm Mount Valley at the edge of the Namib Desert (21.000 hectare).
It’s our pleasure to also take care of special requests. Thus the hunt on special game that is not found on Heusis or on Mount Valley can be arranged on other farms with prior consent. Khomas Highland Hunting Safaris gladly organises further hunting excursions.
Regardless of being a experienced hunter or a beginner, we will make your trophy hunt in Namibia an unforgettable experience.
Further Information about hunting
It goes without saying that Khomas Highland Hunting Safaris also offers a variety of programs for guests accompanying the hunter. Thus it is our pleasure to offer separate game drives, horse riding or guided hikes. A shopping trip to Windhoek can also be organised
You are welcome to bring your own hunting weapon to Namibia. The import of such firearms and ammunition will be registered at the Windhoek airport and poses no problem. The import of handguns is strictly prohibited. If you prefer to hunt with your own riffle we recommend a calibre no less than 30.06 (or comparable) and we expect the use of high quality ammunition with stable bullets for example: Barnes-X, Norma, RWS or similar.
Should you want to avoid the registration efforts at the airport you are welcome to use the firearms available on the farm. This will decrease your luggage tremendously and will make space for some souvenirs.
We rent out the following riffles, calibre: 375 H&H, 300 Win, 30.06 Springfield, 243 Win, 12/70
Hunting gear: clothing, shoes and other accessories
The ideal hunting clothes should be of unobtrusive and muted colour, which match the natural Namibian environment, i.e. yellow or green khaki or camouflage. For Namibia’s hot summer months we recommend light but sturdy clothes including a hat and a pullover for the cooler evenings. As it can get cold during winter we also recommend some warm clothes and a well fitted, not too large, parka or anorak. If joining an early morning hunt in June/July a beany can definitely do no harm.
Our hunting focus lies on ethic hunts on foot in the open and rocky field. Thus sturdy (and worn in) footwear like boots or half boots are highly recommended. For the time of relaxation after the hunt you should bring along some sandals or light footwear.
Furthermore you should bring along some sunscreen lotion. Even though you can purchase it in Namibia, it is rather expensive. Insect repellent (Tabard, Peaceful Sleep) can be bought in every super market in Windhoek. You are welcome to bring your own from home though. Please do not forget to bring a torch.
